
Rifle reported stolen out of parked truck in Enderby
ENDERBY – Mounties are warning hunters to store their firearms safely after a rifle was reportedly stolen overnight from parked truck Sunday.
The truck was parked in the area of George Street and Regent Avenue in Enderby, according to an RCMP media release. Officers were called to investigate the report of a theft at about 8:20 a.m. Sept. 28. The owner of the truck told police his truck was broken into overnight and his .308 Browing Rifle with a Leopold VX Scope in the case was taken.
The RCMP and Conservation officers are reminding the public it's illegal to leave a firearm in plain view in a vehicle even if it's trigger locked. Anyone caught doing so can be charged under the Criminal Code and face the judge in court. As well, Mounties say all valueables should be carefully stored out of sight because theives are always looking for an easy opportunity.
