Canadians Duhamel and Radford in first place after pairs short at Finlandia

ESPOO, Finland – Canadian figure skaters Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford are in first place after the pairs short program at the ISU Challenger Series Finlandia Trophy.

Duhamel, of Lively, Ont., and Radford, of Balmertown, Ont., scored 66.49 points on their routine Thursday, with a technical element score of 34.57 and a program component score of 32.92.

The free skate will take place on Friday.

Russia’s Kristina Astakhova and Alexei Rogonov are second with 57.26 total points while Germany’s Mari Vartmann and Ruben Blommaert sit third with 56.58.

Katelyn Osmond of Marystown, N.L., is third after the ladies short program.

Osmond scored 64.73 points, behind Anna Pogorilaya of Russia (69.50) and Japan’s Mao Asada (64.87).

The ladies free skate is also scheduled for Friday.

The men’s short program, which features Toronto’s Patrick Chan, goes Friday with the free skate scheduled for Saturday.
