Expert: AEG Live’s involvement with Michael Jackson’s doctor a conflict of interest

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – An expert testifying for Michael Jackson’s mother says he believes it was a conflict of interest for the promoter of the superstar’s comeback concerts to negotiate with his doctor.

David Berman is a longtime record company executive and attorney. He told a jury hearing Katherine Jackson’s lawsuit against AEG Live LLC that he has never heard of another company negotiating a deal with a doctor on behalf of a musician.

He told jurors hearing the negligent hiring case on Monday that he believed AEG Live’s interactions with former cardiologist Conrad Murray was a conflict of interest.

Berman told jurors he came to that conclusion after reviewing emails sent by AEG executives and thousands of pages of records in the case.

AEG denies wrongdoing and that it hired Murray.
