PENTICTON – There's a big hole to fill on the Penticton school board with three trustees deciding not to run for re-election.
Linda Beaven, Walter Huebert and Tracy St. Claire have all decided to throw in the towel.
“I figure half a century is long enough,” says Huebert who was a teacher for 41 years and a trustee for six years.
Fellow longtime educator Bruce Johnson does plan to run for re-election, as do trustees Shelley Clarke, Ginny Manning and Linda Van Alphen.
New legislation means trustees will serve a four-year term instead of the previous three-year term.
Nominations for the civic election close on October 10 and ballots will be cast November 15, 2014.
