Birthday party gunfire leaves woman dead, officer wounded

CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – Authorities have identified a man accused of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend in front of their child and several other children at a birthday party in central Alabama.

Talladega County Sheriff Jimmy Kilgore says Tre’querious Marquez Twyman is accused of killing 23-year-old Jackie Dogen on Wednesday after an argument between the two at the Sadie Lee Holmes housing community in Childersburg.

Kilgore says an officer was struck by gunfire when 22-year-old Twyman fired shots at arriving officers. Twyman was wounded when he exchanged shots with officers about two streets away from the initial scene.

Twyman has not been charged yet because he is at UAB Hospital undergoing surgery. Kilgore says Twyman’s condition is unknown.

The officer who was shot has been released from a hospital.
