Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

TORONTO – Some of the most active companies traded Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (11,968.57 down 299.71 points):

Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Insurance. Up 24 cents, or 1.45 per cent, at $16.80 on 13.09 million shares.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Down 23 cents, or 9.54 per cent, at $2.18 on 12.76 million shares. The gold sector was the largest percentage decliner on the TSX, down more than seven per cent as bullion plunged $87.80 to US$1,286.20 an ounce, its lowest close since September 2010.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Down 45 cents, or 7.95 per cent, at $5.21 on 12.46 million shares.

Canadian Oil Sands Ltd. (TSX:COS). Oilsands. Down 68 cents, or 3.38 per cent, at $19.45 on 8.5 million shares. The energy sector fell 2.29 per cent to 243.37 points.

Royal Bank of Canada (TSX:RY). Bank. Down $1.77, or 2.92 per cent, at $58.92 on 7.46 million shares.

Toronto Venture Exchange (892.60 down 31.65 points):

Pinecrest Energy Inc. (TSXV:PRY). Oil and gas. Down three cents, or 4.55 per cent, at 63 cents on 4.96 million shares.

Westbridge Energy Corp. (TSXV:WEB). Oil and gas. Up five cents, or 31.25 per cent, at 21 cents on 3.42 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Cineplex Inc. (TSX:CGX). Theatre operator. Down 15 cents, or 0.44 per cent, at $33.72 on 65,938 shares. The chain operator will soon launch SuperTicket, a service where customers can buy a movie admission and a digital download of the same film.

Rona Inc. (TSX:RON). Hardware retailer. Down 11 cents, or 1.07 per cent, at $10.13 on 95,894 shares. The hardware and home renovation company will sell its commercial and professional division to EMCO subsidiary Talisker Plumbing Corp. for $215 million.
