Congressman says Bravo show ‘Princesses: Long Island’ promotes bigotry against Jews

NEW YORK, N.Y. – A New York congressman says the Bravo series “Princesses: Long Island” is the most objectionable thing he’s seen on television.

Rep. Steve Israel says the show about the lives of six young single women promotes stereotypes. He represents the region where the new series is filmed.

Israel says it encourages viewers to think such Jewish women are all narcissistic and obsessed about money. He wants Bravo to air a disclaimer before each show.

After three episodes, the show is considered a success for Bravo. A spokeswoman for the network says the show isn’t meant to represent all Jewish women, or all Long Island residents.
