Part of the Tournament Capital Centre will be closed for the summer

KAMLOOPS – Upgrades to the floor at the Tournament Capital Centre next week means the fieldhouse section will be shut down until mid-September.

On Tuesday, June 27, crews begin work to remove the existing the floor and prepare for the new Mondotrack and hardwood floor that’s replacing it, according to a City of Kamloops media release.

“There will definitely be noise during the construction, but every effort is being made to minimize the impact on users in the remainder of the facility,” capital project supervisor Matt Kachel says in the release. “Right now, crews will be working weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., but those hours may change as the project progresses.”

While the fieldhouse is closed until the end of summer, the rest of the facilities will stay open, including the athlete performance centre and pool. However some entrances and exits will be affected by the construction.
