Draw for Champions League qualifying pits Celtic against Irish champion Cliftonville

NYON, Switzerland – Celtic will begin qualifying for the Champions League against Irish league winner Cliftonville, while Monday’s draw also pitted fellow former European Cup winner Steaua Bucharest against FK Vardar of Macedonia.

Celtic reached the knockout stages of last season’s competition before losing to Juventus and the Scottish champion was one of three teams from last year’s group stages involved in the draw in Nyon, Switzerland, for the second round of qualifying.

BATE Borisov will start its European campaign against Kazakhstani team Shakhter Karagandy, while Dinamo Zagreb will take on CS Fola Esch of Luxembourg.

The two-leg series of the second round will begin July 16-17, with the second legs held a week later.
