Penticton thief caught stealing dirt bike, twice

PENTICTON – Penticton RCMP apprehended a thief with a single minded purpose last week.

RCMP say officers observed a man pushing a dirt bike on Government Street on June 15. He fled from the scene when he saw the officers, but was later found in the area and arrested for driving while prohibited and possession of stolen property.

The motorcyle had been stolen from Penticton Towing, but the man had also been in possession of the same bike when he was arrested on June 6 in Summerland.

“He was arrested on the dirt bike on June 6, it went to Penticton Towing, it was stolen out of Penticton Towing’s yard and he was found with it again,” Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says.

A 37-year-old man was arrested and charged with break and enter, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, failing to comply with recognizance and one count of driving while prohibited under the Motor Vehicle Act.
