Chamber loses Campbell to council campaign

PENTICTON – Council candidate, Campbell Watt will take a leave of absence from his posts at downtown business organizations during his campaign.

Watt has requested formal leaves from his presidency positions at the Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Penticton Association. If he is elected to council he will fully resign, he says.

Both boards knew Watt’s campaign intentions before he made a public announcement and have been supportive of his decisions, he says.

“I wanted to honour those commitments,” he says of his two elected positions.  He didn’t want to leave mid-term, but taking a leave was the best solution, he says.

And now he isn’t connected to any organizations during the election, so he will represent only himself.

“It’s more beneficial if I can make decisions on my own,” Watt says.
