SAN FRANCISCO – The Latest on two skydivers who plummeted to their deaths in Northern California (all times local):

10:35 a.m.

The mother of one of two skydivers killed in California when their parachute failed to open says the jump was on the 18-year-old’s bucket list of things to do in life.

Francine Salazar says her son Tyler Turner was born with a mild case of cerebral palsy and walked with a crouched gait, but he never let his condition deter him. She said Monday he was an adventurous spirit who was always willing to give something a try.

The recent high school graduate was headed for the University of California at Merced this month to study biomedical engineering. He hoped to find a cure for cerebral palsy.

An instructor strapped to Turner also died Saturday after they plunged into a vineyard in Lodi, 85 miles east of San Francisco. San Joaquin County sheriff’s officials haven’t identified the instructor.
