Kamloops elementary school wins $100,000 for new playground

KAMLOOPS – A Valleyview elementary school heard the news they were hoping for today.

The children who go to Marion Schilling Elementary learned they were one of three BCAA Play Here winners, and will receive $100,000 to revamp their playground.

The school wrote on the BCAA Play Here website the 25-year-old playground was in need of upgrade. The treated wood is deteriorating, and being the only playground in the area, it's due for a renovation.

The playground needed to be completely replaced with a price tag of $90,000.

They say it would have taken their Parent Advisory Council years to save enough money.
