Serial sex offender given indefinite jail term, dangerous offender designation

KAMLOOPS, B.C. – A B.C. Supreme Court Judge has sent a serial sex offender to prison indefinitely, ruling that 33-year-old Jack Froese is too dangerous to be allowed out.

Justice Peter Rogers also imposed a dangerous offender designation to Froese, who pleaded guilty last year to kidnapping and raping a north Kamloops woman in November 2011.

Rogers says Froese shows no remorse and ignores court-imposed conditions, and that there is little evidence he can be rehabilitated.

Froese’s crimes date back a decade, span three provinces, and include two convictions for violent sexual assaults.

Defence lawyer Jeremy Jensen was seeking a jail term of between eight and 15 years, and a long-term supervision order, but the judge has rejected the application.

Jensen says Froese is eligible to apply for parole in two years, but approval is rare. (CFJC, CHNL)
