Driver with flat tire refuses to stop, not even for police
PENTICTON — Police are continuing an investigation into a strange motor vehicle incident that took place north of Summerland earlier this week.
Penticton RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says an elderly man driving north of Summerland on June 29 was observed by police driving on a flat tire.
When told to pull over, the man laughed at police and kept driving.
Spike belts were deployed to prevent the man from driving into a populated area and the vehicle was stopped.
Police were concerned about the man’s medical condition, as he had been driving for some distance, basically on the rim of the flat tire.
The man was checked by paramedics and taken to hospital.
Wrigglesworth says if the man is cleared medically, he will face charges under the criminal code and motor vehicle act.
