UPDATE: Two people killed in Coquihalla crash

KAMLOOPS – Two people have died and another is critically injured after an early morning crash on Coquihalla Highway this morning. 

Police say the vehicle was heading southbound on Highway 5 between Kamloops and Merritt when it hit a deer, left the road and went into a steep ditch.

After a several hour closure, Highway 5 southbound is now open at the Logan Lake turnoff. Drive B.C. reported the closure at 6:48 a.m. today, July 4.

The road was closed at exit 336, the junction with Highway 97D to Logan Lake while police investigated the crash.
