Hot, dry week ahead in the Okanagan

OKANAGAN – On the heels of a very dry June, the Okanagan is in for a week of scorching weather.

This stretch of 30 degree weather follows a month that brought little rainfall. Since June 15, there was 2.4 mm of rain in Kelowna, 2.4 mm in Penticton and 1.6 in Vernon, according to data from Environment Canada. 

Today, July 4, the temperature is forecast to peak at 31 Celsius with a mix of sun and cloud. It'll be warmer than the seasonal normal of 26 C for this time of year, according to Environment Canada. 

Plan for sunny skies and a high of 33 C on Wednesday.

The temperature keeps climbing on Thursday with a forecast high of 35 C.

Friday should to the be warmest day of the week at 37 C, dropping to 17 C overnight.

The weekend forecast is more of the same hot and sunny weather, with highs reaching about 36 C, dropping to 17 C overnight.
