PENTICTON – Every year nearly two dozen RCMP officers jump on their bikes to cycle from Kelowna to Penticton to Osoyoos and back to Kelowna for their Cops for Kids fundraising campaign.
This year's team made a stop at Boston Pizza on Main Street where the owner donated $2,000 to the cause, team captain and Penticton Cpl. Brian Burke said. That will be on top of the $2,000 already raised by each participating officer. About $85,000 has been raised already this year.
The money pays for items children need but with costs not covered by the provincial or federal governments. Some kids need a custom-built three-wheeled bike. Others need specially-built assistive devices.
