Canadiens agree to terms on two-year deal with free agent Briere

MONTREAL – Danny Briere is leaving his new home in the Philadelphia area for his native Quebec.

The Montreal Canadiens have announced that the team has agreed to terms on a two-year deal with Briere.

The 35-year-old forward was bought out by the Philadelphia Flyers last week.

He had reportedly narrowed his list of potential destinations to the Canadiens, New Jersey Devils and Nashville Predators.

Briere, a native of Gatineau, Que., has 282 goals and 373 assists in 847 career NHL games.
