Senators sign forward MacArthur away from rival Maple Leafs

OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators began the process of patching up their forward lines, signing forward Clarke MacArthur to a two-year contract.

MacArthur is a forward who can play on a checking line but also has a bit of a scoring touch. He had back-to-back 20-goal seasons with Toronto in 2010-11 and 2011-12.

In seven seasons with Buffalo, Atlanta and Toronto, MacArthur has 93 goals and 120 assists in 403 games.

The Senators lost captain Daniel Alfredsson, who signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Red Wings.
