Wildfire reported near Oyama

OYAMA – A new wildfire has been reported to the east of Oyama.

Provincial wildfire crews are responding to calls about a wildfire east of the Okanagan town, fire information officer Tracey Wynnyk says, but how large the blaze may be is unknown.

“The fire itself is east of Oyama, it’s right near Oyama Lake,” Wynnyk says. “A response officer is now on route and an initial attack crew.”

Air support from a tanker has also been requested.

Whether anyone or or any buildings are near the fire hasn’t been determined yet.

“The situation is developing,” she says.
