Kelowna Chiefs defeated in exhibition play

Kelowna – It was a match-up riddled with penalties and fights between Rutland’s very own Kelowna Chiefs and the North Okanagan Knights.

These two teams met at Rutland Arena on Friday September 6th in the Chiefs final exhibition game before the start of the 2013/2014 KIJHL season.

The Chiefs trailed the entire game and were defeated 6 – 2.

Three Kelowna players were ejected due to fighting including Chase Astorino and Dylan Jamieson while the Knights racked up over 30 minutes in penalties.

North Okanagan opened up scoring early in the first thanks to a quick goal from Logan Geefs.  He would go on to net two more for the hat-trick.   Scoring for Kelowna was Cole DeJonge in the first and Austin Fisher would net the Chiefs final goal in the third period.

The Kelowna Chiefs will spend the next week preparing for the start of the 2013/2014 KIJHL season.

The team’s home opener is slated for Saturday September 14th as they welcome the Osoyoos Coyotes to Rutland Arena for a 7PM puck drop.
