Bus runs off road in central Spain, killing 9, injuring 21

MADRID – Spanish police say a bus has swerved off the road and crashed in central Spain, killing nine people and injuring 21 others.

A spokesman for the paramilitary Civil Guard said the accident occurred Monday close to the town of Tornadizos in Avila province when a local bus left the highway as it was coming down from a mountain pass.

There are no immediate details on the identities of those killed.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity in keeping with force regulations.
