Jurors deliberate over doctor who performed botched abortion
NEW YORK – Jurors are deliberating at the trial of a New York City doctor who performed a badly botched abortion that caused a patient to bleed to death.
A judge in Queens said Wednesday that jurors could consider a lesser charge of negligent homicide if they don’t convict Dr. Robert Rho of second-degree manslaughter.
During closing arguments on Tuesday, prosecutors characterized Rho as careless, greedy and someone who operated far outside the medical norm.
Defence attorney Jeffrey Lichtman says the 2016 death of Jamie Lee Morales was a tragedy but was not a crime.
