CALGARY – Another insurance company says it is stepping up to help homeowners in flood-ravaged southern Alberta.
TD Insurance says because of the hardship caused by the devastating floods it will pay for sewer backup losses within the limits of individual policies.
The move follows similar pledges made last week by other companies, including RBC Insurance and AMA Insurance.
A TD Insurance spokeswoman says the company will be reaching out to customers in Alberta in the coming days.
Coverage became an issue last week when some homeowners complained that their insurers were denying their claims for sewer backups.
People who have uninsurable property damage caused by overland flooding can apply to the Alberta government for disaster recovery money to make some repairs and to replace some essential items.
