Alabama sheriff’s deputy shot during domestic violence call

STOCKTON, Ala. – A sheriff’s deputy in Baldwin County, Alabama, has been hospitalized after he was shot while responding to a domestic violence call.

Sheriff Huey Mack says Cpl. Michael Walker was wounded early Tuesday near Stockton. Mack says 37-year-old Forrest Bullin was arrested for attempted murder after a standoff with deputies that lasted more than four hours.

WALA-TV reports that Mack says Bullin threw a woman out of a car and off of a bridge. The attack occurred Monday night in the Latham community, and the woman was hospitalized and listed in fair condition.

Around 1 a.m. Tuesday, investigators learned Bullin was hiding in his home. Mack says Bullin fired a shotgun when Walker arrived and that Walker was hit in the face and upper torso. Walker is hospitalized in serious, but stable condition.
