Fox News says Elisabeth Hasselbeck of ‘The View’ will join morning show

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Elisabeth Hasselbeck is leaving the desk at “The View” for the couch on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends.”

The news network said Tuesday that Hasselbeck, who has been on Barbara Walters’ syndicated daytime show for a decade, will join co-anchors Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade on Fox’s morning show in September. She will replace Gretchen Carlson, who will get a new daytime show at Fox.

Hasselbeck’s departure was widely rumoured this spring, hotly denied at the time by Walters. Hasselbeck was a conservative voice among the ladies on “The View,” often leaving her outnumbered.

“The View” now needs to replace both Hasselbeck and Joy Behar, with Walters’ retirement coming next spring.
