Toronto FC striker Danny Koevermans will miss several weeks with calf injury
TORONTO – Dutch striker Danny Koevermans has hit a road bump in his return from knee surgery.
The Toronto FC designated player will be out for a couple of weeks with a calf injury.
“It’s not a bad one, but it’s one of those two to three, two to four weeks (absences),” Toronto manager Ryan Nelsen said after practice Thursday.
Nelsen said such minor injuries are common as players get used to the daily wear and tear of soccer after being out for so long.
After missing some 11 months due to a knee injury, the 34-year-old Koevermans has played just 78 minutes in four games.
His comeback has been slowed by a virus and tweaking his other knee.
