Milwaukee Brewers LF Ryan Braun out at least 3 games on bereavement leave

PHOENIX – Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun will miss at least three games after being placed on bereavement leave.

Braun was expected to return to the lineup Thursday night against Arizona, but left the team due to a family medical issue, according to the team.

Bereavement leave has to be at least three days and no more than seven under baseball’s rules.

Braun returned to Milwaukee’s lineup Tuesday against Cincinnati after missing 26 games with an inflamed nerve in his right hand, but sat out Wednesday to rest a sore right thumb.

He went 1 for 3 in his return and is batting .304 with nine home runs and 36 RBIs in 58 games.
