
Meeting planned for Clearwater tonight to discuss wildfires
CLEARWATER – A public meeting is being held tonight in Clearwater with local officials.
The meeting, about the wildfires in the area, is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Clearwater Secondary School at 440 Murtle Cres., according to a post by the District of Clearwater. Mayor John Harwood will host and representatives from the B.C. Wildfire Service, Thompson Nicola Regional District, police and ambulance service will be on hand.
The entire village of Clearwater was put on evacuation alert yesterday and an evacuation order has been issued for some properties on the southern edge of the town. Other evacuation orders are in place for nearby rural areas.
Up to date information can be found on the District of Clearwater Facebook page and regional district website. A searchable, interactive map is available showing all evacuation orders and alerts in the regional district.
