A news release says the incident happened early Saturday morning in Maple Ridge, when an officer spotted two men hiding in some bushes.
The officer approached the men, but they fled on foot.
The officer then got in his vehicle and pursued the men, and during the case, one of the men pulled out a firearm and fired it at the officer.
The news release says investigators used a police dog to search for the suspects, but they have yet to find them the men.
Cpl. Alanna Dunlop describes it as a brazen act of violence, and she says anyone with information should contact the police.
