Sudden death at Penticton beach not suspicious

PENTICTON – A man who went into medical distress at a Penticton beach was pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of those who came to his aid yesterday afternoon.

RCMP says emergency services were called to Three Mile Beach on Okanagan Lake at about 4:22 p.m. Tuesday, July 18.

The victim, a man in his early 60s, was assisted by other beach patrons who administered first aid but were unable to revive the man, according to an RCMP media release.

Police say his death does not involve foul play and is not suspicious.

RCMP have not released the man's identity or released any information about how he died.

The B.C. Coroners Service is investigating along with the RCMP.
