Fines issued for 15 illegal campfires in B.C. last week

Much of the province is burning and shockingly, some people are still having campfires despite the province-wide ban and state of emergency due to wildfires.

Officers issued 15 violation tickets for illegal campfires over the last week, according to a social media post by the B.C. Conservation Service.

The post did not specify where in the province the tickets were issued.

The price of being caught with an illegal campfire is $1,150.

There is a campfire and open burning ban across the province due to the extreme fire hazard and to help prevent human-caused wildfires.

In the post, officers also remind the public that target shooters are not allowed to use binary exploding targets during fire bans.
