Kelowna fire held to garage

KELOWNA – No one was home when a fire started in the garage of a home in the 4800 block of Dillon Place last night.

Firefighters were called to a report of smoke coming from a home at yesterday at 8:45 p.m., July 22, according to a media release from John Kelly, Platoon Capt. of the Kelowna Fire Department.

Upon arrival, the first arriving officer saw smoke coming from the garage and roof area. A team involving three fire engines and fifteen personnel forced entry to discover a large fire largely from the contents. Because the fire was extinguished quickly, the fire was contained to the garage with only minor smoke damage to the home.

The investigation found no foul play and the cause is believed to be electrical in nature.

The Kelowna Fire Department reminds everyone to check your smoke alarms because they save lives.
