Windstorm makes a mess in North Okanagan and Shuswap

NORTH OKANAGAN – Strong winds whipped the North Okanagan and Shuswap Sunday evening.

Evidence of the windstorm can be seen this morning, including numerous fallen branches and shredded leaves on yards and roadways.

The strong winds even appear to have ripped the roof off a shelter at the Enderby ball diamonds behind the arena.

The storm knocked out power for more than 1,000 customers in the Salmon Arm area.

According to Environment Canada, winds picked up to 64 km/h around 6 p.m. last night in the Salmon Arm area, and 31 km/h in Vernon.

Reports on social media indicate there was other damager throughout the valley, including a tree that fell on a cabin in the Shuswap.
