LOS ANGELES – The Latest on a thunderstorm moving across central and southern California (all times local):

A thunderstorm moving across central and southern California dropped heavy rain in several areas and triggered warnings of flash flooding.

According to the National Weather Service in Oxnard, radar shows an estimated one inch of rain fell per hour in the area east of Santa Maria that was burned by a wildfire in July.

Forecasters warned of flash flooding in that area, along with sections of Santa Maria, Orcutt and Los Alamos on the central coast.

Meanwhile, the Palm Springs area was recovering from a thunderstorm Saturday afternoon that dropped more than an inch of rain and flooded many streets and homes.

A flash flood watch has been issued for mountain and desert areas surrounding Los Angeles as a slow-moving thunderstorm is expected to linger over the region.

Meteorologist David Sweet of the National Weather Service in Oxnard, California, says the watch takes effect at noon Sunday and stretches until night.

Sweet says the storms could drop as much as an inch of rain per hour in places.

He says a concern is mountainous areas recently affected by wildfires that could see mud and debris flows.

Sweet says areas covered by the watch include the San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys outside Los Angeles.
