Hiker rescued in Rose Valley Regional Park

WEST KELOWNA – The B.C. Ambulance Service called in the search and rescue volunteers Friday afternoon to rescue a woman who hurt her ankle while hiking in Rose Valley Regional Park in West Kelowna.

The woman, in her late 50s, had hiked to the top of the Bitter Root trail and on her way down slipped and severely injured her ankle, according to a media release from Central Okanagan Search and Rescue.

Nine members of the team responded with a truck, two ATVs and a motorcycle.

“Search and rescue members reached the injured woman and after treating her injury, evacuated her down the trail with an ATV to the awaiting ambulance,” Duane Tresnich with the search and rescue group says.

The rescued woman was taken to Kelowna General Hospital.
