Woman sitting behind home plate netting struck by foul ball at Nationals game
WASHINGTON – The netting behind home plate wasn’t enough to protect a fan from a foul ball at a Washington Nationals game.
A woman sitting on the front row was struck by a foul ball off the bat of Los Angeles Dodgers pinch hitter Jerry Hairston Jr. in the ninth inning Saturday night.
The line drive went straight back and appeared to go through the netting. It hit the woman in the left hand, which she was holding in front of her face.
An usher came to check on the woman, who remained in her seat and did not appear to be seriously hurt.
