Coroner investigating death at downtown Kamloops park

KAMLOOPS – The B.C. Coroners Service is investigating a death at Riverside Park in Kamloops.

Social media reports say RCMP officers were in Riverside Park near the entrance by the Sandman Centre for a few hours yesterday evening, July 27.

B.C. Coroners Service spokesperson Andy Watson says he can confirm they investigating a death in the area, but couldn't go into any detail.

Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Edward Preto says police were called to the scene around 7:27 p.m. yesterday.

He says the death is not considered suspicious.

The deceased's identity or the circumstances surrounding the person's death have not been released.
