Stray dog found in wildfire evacuation zone needs your help: Kamloops SPCA

KAMLOOPS – The Kamloops SPCA is putting out the call for to help a canine fire evacuee named Badger.

The stray was found wandering behind the fire evacuation line near Kamloops, according to a B.C. SPCA media release.

Kamloops branch manager Alyssa Kyllo says the six-year-old border collie-corgi mix is a friendly dog whose "health and wellbeing were neglected for some time.”

“This sweet girl has had so many puppies that her stomach is covered in tumours,” Kyllo says in the release.

The SPCA estimates the medical costs associated with Badger’s surgery and care will exceed more than $3,000.

"We just want to help her have a second chance in a loving home," she says

Once Badger has recovered from her surgeries she will be available for adoption.

If you can help Badger click here to visit the B.C. SPCA website or you can donate in person at the Kamloops SPCA at 1211 8 St.
