Body of Surrey, B.C. woman, 19, found in burned-out vehicle

SURREY, B.C. – A young woman who recently received a kidney transplant has been found dead in a burned-out vehicle in what police in Surrey, B.C., say was a homicide.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says 19-year-old Kiran Dhesi was last seen leaving the family home in Surrey on Tuesday, Aug. 1, and her body was found early Wednesday when firefighters responded to the vehicle fire.

Police say evidence recovered from the scene indicates the homicide wasn’t random.

They say the young woman isn’t known to them and there is no indication her death was related to gang activity which has been plaguing the area recently.

Cpl. Meghan Foster with the homicide team says the death of the young college student is a crushing blow to her family and they are suffering terribly.

Investigators are trying to determine a motive and are hoping to speak with any friends or acquaintances who knew the young woman, or anyone who last saw her alive.
