MEXICO CITY – A new poll suggests approval ratings for Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto have fallen to 23 per cent, while 74 per cent disapprove of the job he is doing.
The level is the lowest since just after Pena Nieto took office in December 2012, when he got a 50-per cent approval rating in the same poll.
The poll published Thursday by the newspaper Reforma had a margin of error of 3.3 per cent. Pollsters interviewed 1,200 people nationwide between Augusto 4 and 7.
Reforma says it’s the lowest approval rating for a president since it began publishing similar polls in 1995, just after the country’s massive peso devaluation.
