Alberta driver ticketed for crash on Salmon Arm highway

SALMON ARM – Four people walked away from an early morning highway crash in Salmon Arm without serious injuries thanks to "evasive action" from an Ontario driver.

Salmon Arm RCMP say in a news release that police responded to a crash on the Salmon Arm River Bridge on the Trans-Canada Highway around 12:47 a.m. today, Aug. 1.

An Ontario truck was headed west bound on the highway with three occupants and an Alberta truck was heading east bound with one occupant when it crossed the centre line.

Staff Sgt. Scott West the vehicles collided and caused extensive damage to both trucks.

"But due to evasive action taken by the driver of the Ontario registered vehicle the impact force was greatly reduced," West says. "None of the occupants of the vehicles were hospitalized."

West says the investigation and witness information resulted in a ticket for the Alberta driver for driving without due care and attention.
