Men pepper-sprayed in robbery

KAMLOOPS – Kamloops police say two men were pepper-sprayed and robbed by a man they were trying to help early this morning.

Around 3 a.m., the two men aged 23 and 37 found a Kamloops RCMP officer on Lansdowne St. and said they were robbed and pepper sprayed, says Const. Cheryl Bush. They said they were in a nearby alley, when they were approached by a native male who offered to sell drugs and asked for money to buy food. When one of the men took out his wallet, the suspect pepper sprayed him in the face and attempted to spray the second man as well. The suspect fled the scene after grabbing the wallet.

The suspect is described as 5’11” tall, wearing a black shirt at the time.

The two victims were transported to Royal Inland Hospital to be treated for the pepper spray. Police patrolled the area, but were unable to locate the suspect. Anyone with information on this incident are asked to contact Kamloops RCMP or call Crime Stoppers.
