3 bears captured, killed separately in Idaho, Montana

HELENA, Mont. – Wildlife officials in Montana and Idaho say they separately captured and killed three bears over the last five days.

Glacier National Park officials say rangers euthanized an approximately 9-year-old, 150-pound black bear on Monday after it broke into a cabin. A similar bear was previously spotted eating feed in a corral and caused property damage.

Earlier, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks officials said a 3-year-old, 195-pound male grizzly broke into chicken coops and killed numerous chickens over several days before it was captured and killed Thursday north of Kalispell.

And in northern Idaho, officials say they euthanized a 240-pound male grizzly Saturday after it killed seven sheep.

Officials say the same bear was captured in 2018 and relocated to the Cabinet Mountains near the Idaho-Montana border after harassing livestock and raiding orchards.
