Kamloops driver tries to flee scene after car crash downtown

KAMLOOPS – An investigation is underway after a driver in Kamloops attempted to flee the scene of a crash downtown this morning.

Kamloops RCMP Sgt. Sascha Fesenko says in a news release that Kamloops RCMP responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Seymour Street and 4th Avenue around 2:30 a.m. today, Aug. 8.

One of the drivers allegedly ran away from the scene and was chased by a witness until police arrested the driver.

Fesenko says the driver of the second vehicle stayed at the scene, and both drivers had allegedly consumed liquor.

Both had minor injuries and the vehicles involved sustained significant damage, along with a parking meter pay station.

Fesenko says the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
