PENTICTON – B.C. Wildfire is reporting a new wildfire on Anarchist Mountain near Osoyoos.
The blaze broke out at 10:50 p.m. yesterday evening, Aug. 7, about two kilometres east of Osoyoos, and was originally attended by members of the Anarchist Mountain Fire Department.
Ten members and a water tender worked the blaze overnight to build a guard.
Fire Information Officer Rachel Witt says this morning, Aug. 8, the fire is currently being worked by seven B.C. Wildfire personnel and a water tender, with three to four additional crews expected to arrive by mid-morning.
She says the fire is being held at 10 hectares, largely due to cooperative weather conditions.
No word yet on cause of the blaze.
