Snowbirds still scheduled to fly in Penticton tomorrow, but smoky conditions may be a factor

PENTICTON – The Snowbirds are in Penticton and expect to stage their air show tomorrow but that will depend on the smoky skies.

The Snowbirds are scheduled to start at 6 p.m., but are waiting until showtime to make a final determination regarding smoke conditions and performance safety.

A press release issued today, Aug. 8 by the Penticton Air Display 2017 says the show starts tomorrow, Aug. 9, at 5 p.m. with the precision Canadian Forces Skyhawks Parachute Team at 5 p.m., landing in Okanagan Lake Park.

The parachute team has performed a pre-show flight and expect to perform tomorrow even if smoky conditions persist.

If the Snowbirds team is unable to fly, pilots and crew will meet and greet the public at Okanagan Lake Park beach, with an autograph session slated for 7:15 p.m.

A planned demonstration by the CF-18 fighter jet is expected to fly as scheduled at approximately 6:46 p.m.
