Investigation into B.C. Wildfire firefighters allegedly having campfire concludes

KAMLOOPS – The investigation into a group of B.C. Wildfire firefighters allegedly having a campfire in the midst of a provincial campfire ban has concluded.

B.C. Wildfire information officer for the Kamloops Fire Centre, Jody Lucius, says the results of the investigation are confidential and will not be released to the public.

An investigation was launched last month after photos showing a handful of people wearing B.C. Wildfire attire standing around a campfire circulated on social media.

The photos were posted to a Facebook group just days after a province-wide campfire ban was put in place and a state of emergency was called due to the wildfire situation.

B.C. Wildfire confirmed last month that they were looking into the situation.

"Of course we are extremely concerned about these kinds of incidents,” information officer Max Birkner said. 

The original poster of the photo, Rusty Clark, spoke with iNFOnews.ca last month and said he had been camping when he came across the group and their campfire.
