Wildfire evacuated Bonaparte, Criss Creek residents allowed home

KAMLOOPS – The immediate threat to property and life in the Bonaparte and Criss Creek areas outside of Kamloops has gone down enough for people to return home.

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District Emergency Operations Centre says the evacuation order for the areas, which was issued on Aug. 12, has been downgraded to an alert.

The downgrade was effective yesterday, Aug. 16, at 4 p.m., allowing Bonaparte and Criss Creek residents to return home but still be on evcuation alert.

Affected properties include homes on several streets and a full list of addresses can be found here.

There's always a possibility for an evacuation order to be reissued if a higher risk is posed to life and property.
